Online RBL Lookup, Multi-RBL check, The SPAM Problem, Black IP List, BLiPP

RBL is an abbreviation for “Real-time Blackhole List”. As mentioned below, “RBL” was the name of the first system to use this technology. However, since “RBL” is a trademark for the proprietary MAPS DNSBL, using it as a generic term causes trademark dilution. Some pieces of mail software have configuration parameters that use “RBLs” or “RBL domains” when any DNSBLs can be used, not just the MAPS RBL.

Short for Realtime Blackhole List, a list of IP addresses whose owners refuse to stop the proliferation of spam. The RBL usually lists server IP addresses from ISPs whose customers are responsible for the spam and from ISPs whose servers are hijacked for spam relay.

As subscribers to the RBL, ISPs and companies will know from which IP addresses to block traffic. Most traffic blocking occurs during the SMTP connection phase. The receiving end will check the RBL for the connecting IP address. If the IP address matches one on the list, then the connection gets dropped before accepting any traffic from the spammer. Some ISPs, though, will choose to blackhole (or ignore) IP packets at their routers. The goal here is to block all IP traffic.

It is important to note that all e-mail and packet blocking is done by the recipient, not the RBL administrator, which is only responsible for bouncing spam that is directed at its servers.

The RBL was created by Mail Abuse Prevention System (MAPS) LLC., but there are other entities that keep RBLs aside from MAPS.

Warning: the results listed on this page are not only for addresses listed in the black lists here at BlackIP.Org but also from numerous other unaffiliated RBLs from around the world. If you find your server address is listed in an RBL other than one of ours and you would like to have it deleted please contact the administrators of that RBL directly.

for testing (example: 127.0.0.2) checks multiple RBL:s. check if your mailserver is listed in any blacklist!

Blonda si galeata de vopsea!

O blonda asi ia o slujba la domeniul public. Trebuia sa vopseasca banda de pe mijlocul unui drum de tara. Seful ei ii spune ca se afla an perioada de proba si trebuie sa vopseasca cel putin 2 kilometri pe zi, daca vrea sa-si pastreze serviciul.
Verificând la sfârsitul zilei, el vede ca an prima zi facuse 4 kilometri, dublu fata de medie.
A doua zi a fost putin mai dezamagit, pentru ca blonda nu vopsise decât 2 km. Se gândeste ca oricum asta e media si trece cu vederea.
Dar a treia zi, când blonda vopsise doar 1 km, ai spune:
- Ce problema ai? Vreo boala, vreo defectiune a echipamentului? Ce te opreste sa faci 2 kilometri pe zi?
- Sefuuu, stiti…. cu fiecare zi sunt din ce in ce mai departe de galeata :( !

We’re one step closer to QUANTUM COMPUTING!! - viitor infricosator ;)

“Quantum computing has been threatening to kill off traditional digital computing for a long time now, with various scientific journals hailing its approach. Well, perhaps a few years earlier than we expected, the world has seen the first demonstration of a commercial grade quantum computer in action.

A quick primer: quantum computers don’t rely on bits to structure data. Instead, they work by assuming that the quantum properties of particles can be used to represent data structures. Rather than bits, these quantum data structures are called qubits. Since quantum computers deal with such tiny, tiny measurements and nuances - the behaviour of matter and energy at the subatomic scale - the potential for computing power is absolutely massive.

At least, I’m pretty sure that’s what Wikipedia says.

DWave Systems is a Canadian company, and they’ve built working hardware that computes at a quantum level. They’re running 16-bit qubit computations at the moment, but hope to expand that to 32-qubit by the end of the year.

To work, the hardware has to be chilled down to -273 degrees centigrade. That’s colder than outer space, and would make for a pretty decent Core 2 Duo overclock, we suspect.

“D-Wave’s breakthrough in quantum technology represents a substantial step forward in solving commercial and scientific problems which, until now, were considered intractable. Digital technology stands to reap the benefits of enhanced performance and broader application,” said Herb Martin, chief executive officer, according to DailyTech.

Because of the massive scale that quantum physics operates on, quantum computers are thought to be perfect for solving problems that are simply to great for traditional computers to operate on, such as life sciences and theoretical physics. In theory, a single quantum computer should be multiple times more powerful than the fastest supercomputer cluster in existence today.

It’s unlikely that we’re going to see quantum computers on the desktop any time soon, but it seems like Ray Kurtzweil’s theory of technological singularity, where machines are more intelligent than people, could be upon us.”

Well that sounds pretty freakin’ amazing. Just imagine what a completely different futuristic world we’ll all be living in in the near future. Just image the power of a couple of render-farms all in your budget priced desktop PC. Just image how GPU’s could benefit from this as well. Think Crysis looks amazing? In about 20 years we’ll all be laughing our asses off in disbelieve that we ever thought something as hideous as Crysis was considered “amazing”.

uhhh… e de speriat unde se poate ajunge.
Bine ca 99% din noi nu stiu si nici nu ai idee despre ce este vorba, dar pentru 1% dintre noi viitorul nu este asa placut cu un asemenea computer pe masa … wtf, nici nu vreau sa ma gandesc de ce poate fi capabila o inteligenta care gandeste subcuantic, dincolo de fizic, practic in alt univers, o “gandire” inapoi in timp… acel computer cu siguranta va fi mai viu decat un om si nu mare ne poate fi mirarea daca intr’o zi o sa vedem ca nu mai porneste … de ce ? pentru ca pur si simplu a trecut in alta lume, a gasit o metoda de a se elibera de lumea fizica… practic devine un fel de suflet liber wink.gif) …. da , este SF, insa never say never.
Cat despre usurinta de a sparge un cod, o parola, etc…. asta e floare la ureche, e clar ca sunt necesare alte sisteme de criptare alti algoritmi, etc !!!

Mai aveti rabdare 20 de ani ?

Nu e curent? Nu muncim!

Pană de curent în nordul Capitalei!

Pentru aproape 30 de minute, toţi cei situaţi în cartierele Bucureştii Noi, Chitila, Băneasa şi Pajura au rămas în întuneric.

Este vorba de blocurile de locuinţe, firme, spitale dar şi aeroportul Aurel Vlaicu din Băneasa. Generatoarele au pornit şi au alimentat balizajul astfel încât traficul aerian nu a fost afectat.

Nu este pentru prima dată când o parte din Bucureşti rămâne fără alimentare cu curent electric.

Pentru medicii şi asistentele de la spitalul CFR 2 situaţia a fost una dramatică. Şi asta pentru că singurul generator pe care l-au primit nu a fost încă montat.

Defecţiunea s-a produs în jurul orei 10, la o linie subterană de 100 kW din zona de nord a Capitalei.

smile.gif nu e curent nu muncim… e si scump al dreaq un generator de 3 Kw , se gasesc si pe baza de etanol, ca poluarea sa fie cat mai mica, iar functionarea nu este restrictionata de lipsa amenajarilor speciale pentru evacuarea gazelor de ardere rezultate in cazul generatoarelor cu bezina (sau diesel in cazul generatoarelor de puteri mai mari)! Orice firma “rotunda” ar trebui sa aiba unul, desigur si sistem de comutare automata in caz de avarie!!!

SHA-1 si MD5 (algoritmi criptare pe internet) - SPARTI

TAIPEI—Within four years, the U.S. government will cease to use SHA-1 (Secure Hash Algorithm) for digital signatures, and convert to a new and more advanced “hash” algorithm, according to the article “Security Cracked!” from New Scientist . The reason for this change is that associate professor Wang Xiaoyun of Beijing’s Tsinghua University and Shandong University of Technology, and her associates, have already cracked SHA-1.Wang also cracked MD5 (Message Digest 5), the hash algorithm most commonly used before SHA-1 became popular. Previous attacks on MD5 required over a million years of supercomputer time, but Wang and her research team obtained results using ordinary personal computers.In early 2005, Wang and her research team announced that they had succeeded in cracking SHA-1. In addition to the U.S. government, well-known companies like Microsoft, Sun, Atmel, and others have also announced that they will no longer be using SHA-1.Two years ago, Wang announced at an international data security conference that her team had successfully cracked four well-known hash algorithms—MD5, HAVAL-128, MD4, and RIPEMD—within ten years.

A few months later, she cracked the even more robust SHA-1.

Focus and Dedication

According to the article, Wang’s research focusses on hash algorithms.

A hash algorithm is a mathematical procedure for deriving a ‘fingerprint’ of a block of data. The hash algorithms used in cryptography are “one-way”: it is easy to derive hash values from inputs, but very difficult to work backwards, finding an input message that yields a given hash value. Cryptographic hash algorithms are also resistant to “collisions”: that is, it is computationally infeasible to find any two messages that yield the same hash value.

Hash algorithms’ usefulness in data security relies on these properties, and much research focusses in this area.

Recent years have seen a stream of ever-more-refined attacks on MD5 and SHA-1—including, notably, Wang’s team’s results on SHA-1, which permit finding collisions in SHA-1 about 2,000 times more quickly than brute-force guessing. Wang’s technique makes attacking SHA-1 efficient enough to be feasible.

MD5 and SHA-1 are the two most extensively used hash algorithms in the world. These two algorithms underpin many digital signature and other security schemes in use throughout the international community. They are widely used in banking, securities, and e-commerce. SHA-1 has been recognized as the cornerstone for modern Internet security.

According to the article, in the early stages of Wang’s research, there were other researchers who tried to crack it. However, none of them succeeded. This is why in 15 years hash research had become the domain of hopeless research in many scientists’ minds.

Wang’s method of cracking algorithms differs from others’. Although such analysis usually cannot be done without the use of computers, according to Wang, the computer only assisted in cracking the algorithm. Most of the time, she calculated manually, and manually designed the methods.

“Hackers crack passwords with bad intentions,” Wang said. “I hope efforts to protect against password theft will benefit [from this]. Password analysts work to evaluate the security of data encryption and to search for even more secure … algorithms.”

“On the day that I cracked SHA-1,” she added, “I went out to eat. I was very excited. I knew I was the only person who knew this world-class secret.”

Within ten years, Wang cracked the five biggest names in cryptographic hash algorithms. Many people would think the life of this scientist must be monotonous, but “That ten years was a very relaxed time for me,” she says.

During her work, she bore a daughter and cultivated a balcony full of flowers. The only mathematics-related habit in her life is that she remembers the license plates of taxi cabs.

Pentru cei care ati avut rabdarea sa cititi pana la sfarsit aflati ca acesti algoritmi sunt folositi pentru transferul criptat de date (informati carti credit, informatii intre servere, parole..etc).
